Bashui River

The Bashui River got its name because eight tributaries converge to form a short mountain stream. Located in the southern part of Mount Lao, the Bashui River is one of the rivers with the highest altitude on Mount Lao. It originates from Tiancha Peak, and Tianquan is one of its sources. The Bashui River belongs to the Shangqing Scenic Area and is a must-visit place for tourists traveling to Mount Lao. The water of the Bashui River flows into the Taiqing Bay.

The river valley is dotted with many large pools, which is unique among the numerous rivers on Mount Lao. The most spectacular sight is Huahua Langzi. The water flowing down from the mountain top spreads evenly on the hard and smooth stone walls and gurgles along. This is where the eight waters are. The moisture evaporated from the ocean, blocked by the top of Mount Lao, turns into rain and fog and falls in the upper reaches of the Bashui River, making its water source continuous. Therefore, it is called "Little Jiangnan".
