From 1934 to 1937, Mr. Lao She lived and worked in Qingdao for three years. According to Mr. Shu Yi, this was the golden period of Lao She's life and literary creation. This is one of the three rented residences where Lao She lived in Qingdao. The other two were located on Laiwu Road and Jinkou Road respectively. This former residence of Lao She is situated in a quiet alley. The house is not big, but it is very elegant. Lao She's eldest daughter, Shu Ji, lived here when she was three to four years old. The former residence is a two-story building, facing south. The downstairs was the residence for Lao She's whole family. Different from those days, in the courtyard, there are sculptures of "Rickshaw Boy" pulling a rickshaw and a bust of Lao She. And with 26 ceramic prints, the "Rickshaw Boy Illustrated Biography" created by Mr. Sun Zhijun has been presented on the walls. On weekdays, there are not many visitors here, so you can walk around slowly and look around carefully inside.
