Mingxia Cave

Mingxia Cave is located on the mountainside of Kunlun Mountain in the southern part of Laoshan Mountain. You can climb up the stone steps from the foot of the mountain, and after walking about 1 kilometer along the secluded forest path, you will reach the entrance of the cave. Alternatively, you can take the Taiqing Cableway to go straight up there.

This cave was dug during the Dading period of the Jin Dynasty. The three characters "Mingxia Cave" on the cave's lintel were inscribed by Wang Xu, a calligrapher in the Qing Dynasty. It is said that the original cave was tall and spacious, and Taoist Sun Ziyang in the Ming Dynasty once practiced meditation here. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, it was struck by lightning and most of it sank underground. The huge rock to the east of the cave still exists, with the inscription "Half of the Sky is Filled with Rosy Clouds". The flat cliff in front of the cave is like a platform. Looking out from here towards the sea, you can see the vast expanse of misty waters; looking down at the bottom of the cliff, there are numerous gullies crisscrossing each other. The famous scenic spot of Laoshan Mountain, "The Gorgeous Scenery of Mingxia", is just like this.
