The Qingdao International Beer Festival was first held in 1991. Co-hosted by relevant state ministries and commissions and the People's Government of Qingdao City, it is a large-scale national festival integrating tourism, culture, sports, and economy and trade. The theme slogan of the Beer Festival is "Cheers! Qingdao with the World!". After being held for fourteen sessions, the Qingdao International Beer Festival has gradually become a shiny city name card for Qingdao, this beautiful coastal city, and has gained considerable popularity and influence both at home and abroad.

The festival consists of activities such as the opening ceremony, beer tasting, art galas, art parades, cultural and sports entertainment, beer drinking competitions, tourism and leisure, economic and trade exhibitions, and the closing ceremony gala. During the festival, the streets and alleys in Qingdao are newly decorated and the whole city is in a carnival mood. In the International Beer City, which covers an area of nearly 500 mu and has nearly 30 world-class advanced large-scale entertainment facilities, the aroma of beer is everywhere and passion is surging. Every year, the festival attracts more than 20 world-renowned beer manufacturers to participate and nearly 3 million tourists from home and abroad to gather and raise their glasses together.
