Shen Congwen is a famous modern writer and a representative figure of the Beijing School of fiction. In 1931, Shen Congwen came to Qingdao to serve as a lecturer in the Chinese Department of Qingdao University. During his teaching period, he lived at No. 3, Fushan Road. It was here that Shen Congwen successively created famous works such as "Shen Congwen's Autobiography", "A Record of Ding Ling", "Scenes Under the Moon", and "Eight Steeds". "Border Town" was also conceived during this period. Shen Congwen himself once said that the time in Qingdao was "precisely the period when my working ability was at its peak in my life and my writing was relatively mature".
Currently, this former residence is not open to the public for visits. Tourists can only take pictures at the entrance to mark the occasion and experience the cultural atmosphere here.
