On the coast of Shinan District, Qingdao, on the north side of Qingdao Bay, there stands a landmark building that is as old as Qingdao itself - the Qingdao Trestle. It is like a long rainbow, lying horizontally on the blue sea. The Trestle was first built in 1892 and is 440 meters long. It consists of a stone - paved causeway in the northern section connecting to the land, a perforated bridge in the middle section standing in the sea, an island causeway at the southern end, and the Huilan Pavilion on the top.
When strolling along the Trestle, you are accompanied by chain guardrails on both sides and lotus - shaped street lamps. The sea breeze gently blows, and seagulls soar overhead. At the end of the bridge is the Huilan Pavilion with an octagonal, double - eaved, pointed - top structure. With red columns, red tiles, and glazed flying eaves, it fully showcases the beauty of Chinese architecture. Standing beside the Huilan Pavilion, you can have a panoramic view of the layers of huge waves. The scenery of "Flying Pavilion Returning the Surging Waves" is known as one of the "Ten Scenes of Qingdao". When the tide comes in, the surging waves pound the shore, and spray splashes. After the tide ebbs, the ochre - colored reefs and golden beaches are exposed above the water, and tourists can walk down the Trestle to go beach - combing and collect shells. The Trestle Park along the north bank of the bridge is full of lush flowers and trees, providing tourists with an excellent place to rest and enjoy the scenery.
