Shimei Nunnery is located at the foot of Laoshan Mountain. According to legend, in ancient times, this place was a wild and desolate mountain area without a single plum blossom. Later, ten beautiful women built a thatched nunnery here, practiced together, and finally attained immortality and left. Ten tall plum trees were left behind. The blooming plum blossoms were as gorgeous as the morning glow and as white as the auspicious snow, so it got the name "Shimei Nunnery".

Every March, the Qingdao Plum Blossom Festival is held here. Plum blossoms of various colors are vying to bloom, making it the best place for tourists to enjoy plum blossoms in early spring.
