Shimen Temple

Shimen Temple was built in the fifth year of Dading in the Jin Dynasty (1166). In those days, the temple had buildings such as the Mahavira Hall, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower, and the east and west side halls. There was a clear spring under the huge rock on the right side of the stone gate. The water was as green as jade, and it was named Yuquan. Therefore, people also called Shimen Temple Yuquan Temple. In the mid-1940s, Shimen Temple was destroyed in the war. In 1995, the People's Government of Jiaonan City invested in rebuilding the Mahavira Hall and the Pagoda Forest of Shimen Temple.
